Change your underwear!

October 16, 2008

Years ago, there was an old tale in the Marine Corps about a lieutenant who inspected his Marines and told the ‘Gunny’ that they smelled bad. The lieutenant suggested that they change their underwear. The Gunny responded, ‘Aye,aye, sir, I’ll see to it immediately’. He went to the grunts foxholes and said, ‘The lieutenant thinks you guys smell bad, and wants you to change your underwear. Smith, you change with Jones, McCarthy, you change with Witkowskie, Brown, you change with Schultz. Get to it’. The moral: A candidate may promise change in Washington but don’t count on things smelling any better.

Obamanomics: spreading the misery

October 16, 2008

BHO: Impossible to cut taxes for 95% of people as 30% don’t pay income tax.  See Larry Elder research link below.

What Obama means is “tax credits” : translation, redistribution of wealth, you know, spreading it around, i.e., socialism, like importing Fannie Mae into the IRS.  And we know how well that Fannie Mae deal worked out eh?

http://townhall.com/Columnists/LarryElder/2008/10/16/the_case_against_barack_obama,_part_1

Here is Obama’s tax plan:

http://www.barackobama.com/taxes/  [Scroll down and notice the impact will be minimal for families and others.]

He claims he will not raise taxes on anyone or on any small business making $250,000 or less.

Does any of this make sense?  Obama claims the vast majority of small businesses make less than $250,000.  Is that true?

“We say that the overwhelming amount of small business profits in America will face a tax hike” under Obama’s plan.

http://marcambinder.theatlantic.com/archives/2008/10/small_business_v_small_busines.php

http://www.atr.org/content/html/2008/oct/101608pr-factcheck_debate.html

In the U.S. we generally define a small business as one employing 100 people or less.  In the U.S. small businesses provide the vast majority of jobs.

Tax hikes on small business in a recession?  That is the surest way to kill jobs.  That is the surest way to send us into deep depression, especially in view of Obama’s plan to drastically increase federal spending, which we simply cannot afford, according to the most recent Comptroller General to resign, a Democrat.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OS2fI2p9iVs

When small businesses face increasing costs, especially in a downturn, the first thing they do is cut expenses.  In these times, deep cuts will be required, simply to survive.   Employees are the most expensive line item in any business.  Guess who goes first?

http://www.inc.com/news/articles/2008/10/small-business-confidence.html

THEREFORE, the Obama tax plan hurts small business, increases unemployment, and takes money from productive sectors of the economy, giving it to lower income groups in amounts that have little or no impact.  Everyone loses.  Rather than spreading the wealth, Obama spreads misery.

However . .

The trouble with this election: it is being driven by emotions, impressions, feelings, fears, resentments, class warfare and envy.

Facts play poorly if at all in such an environment.

Obama is a master at painting pictures, but behind the canvas, it’s a vastly different story.  Once the tax and spend liberal, and proud of it, he now fashions himself the tax-cutting fiscal conservative, but his policies still trend socialist.

Note:  The Annenberg Political Fact Check outfit (associated with the Chicago Annenberg Foundation of Obama/Ayers fame) says this is all bunk:

CHRISTIAN PASTORS BECOMING POLITICAL ACTIVISTS

October 16, 2008

Intentionally provoking the IRS, engaging civil disobedience

10.16.08

By Allan Erickson

Did you know most Christian pastors do not have full freedom of speech rights in America thanks to former President Lyndon Johnson and Congress?

It’s true.

Churches are tax exempt given their non-profit status as charitable organizations.  According to IRS rules, however, churches can have tax exemption stripped if pastors endorse a candidate from the pulpit or otherwise participate in partisanship.  These rules were put in place in 1954 by Congress approving an amendment submitted by then Sen. Lyndon Johnson.  Non-profits are supposedly prohibited from political activism as well, but obviously, in the case of organizations like ACORN, and Obama’s Public Allies, the law is selectively enforced.

http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=161131,00.html

Why did Johnson seek to prohibit churches and non-profits from political activities?   Certain pastors in Texas opposed him.  He sought to silence them.  Interesting the accelerated liberal trend through the years to the present day to silent the voices of the opposition.

http://allanerickson.wordpress.com/2008/10/11/the-coming-obama-thugocracy/

And so, pastors have been cowed for years, silenced by threats from the federal government, right here in America.

Consequently, you see election time commercials like this, focusing on morality and religion, while carefully avoiding outright voter directives.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4W1wvBjdgs

But all that is changing.

“Now comes word that a tiny cadre of three dozen or so activist pastors, working in conjunction with the Arizona-based religious rights legal firm known as the Alliance Defense Fund, are not only exercising their constitutional rights but also stand ready to challenge a 1954 amendment to the tax code that says nonprofit, tax-exempt entities may not ‘participate in or intervene in…any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for public office.’

[Christian Pastors Stand Up, by  Doug Patton   http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=28796]

Yesterday, words got feet, in Arkansas.

“In a predominantly black church in a city known for its past racial strife, Bishop Robert Smith is taking sides. His targets: Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama and federal restrictions barring Smith’s endorsement of Republican John McCain.  At the end of a recent sermon on abortion and gay marriage, Smith told about 50 worshippers at his Word of Outreach Christian Center, ‘I will be voting for John McCain and Sarah Palin.’ “

http://www2.arkansasonline.com/news/2008/oct/15/pastor-challenges-irs-policy-pro-mccain-sermon/

Bishop Robert Smith is being joined by many others.

“Gus Booth, a pastor in Warroad, Minn., preached from the pulpit, ‘If you are a Christian, you cannot support a candidate like Barack Obama,’ knowing that he was violating federal tax code and jeopardizing his church’s tax-exempt status by speaking against a specific candidate.”

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=67620

Of course, it is worth noting, liberal and radical pastors have long enjoyed both tax exemption, and full freedom to endorse any candidate they like, without sanction.

Jeremiah Wright, Father Pfleger and Rev. Meeks are notable examples.

Culture of Death vs. Culture of Life

October 16, 2008

Who do you trust with your children, your grandchildren, your nation?

Obama supporters: culture of abortion on demand, tax-payer funded, infanticide.

Madonna’s current concert features giant photos of Hitler and McCain. Madonna says she wants to kick Gov. Palin’s ass. Madonna: Obama supporter.

Bernhard is even more vile: Obama supporter— http://media.newsbusters.org/stories/sandra-bernhard-palin-would-be-gang-raped-blacks-manhattan.html (video)
Bernhard: Obama supporter.

Bridget Bardot says Palin is “a disgrace to women.” Obama supporter.

Randi Rhodes said during the primary Hillary is a “f***ing whore.” She implies in the Herald Sun article (link below) Gov. Palin sleeps with teenage boys. “She’s friends with all the teenage boys. You have to say no when your kids say, ‘Can we sleep over at the Palins’?” Rabid Obama supporter.

Whoopi says Gov. Palin is “extremely dangerous.” (Yes, dangerous perhaps to Sen. Obama’s ambition.)

Lohan says Palin is a narrow-minded homophobe. Obama supporter.

Anderson is characteristically depraved, link below. Obama supporter. (Looking more like Bardot, daily.)

Michelle Obama’s husband has remained silent about his supporters’ vicious attacks on Palin. Real gentleman, real feminist.
