It’s all about payback: complex circumstances lead to a singular outcome.

“Blacks are 39 times more likely to commit a violent crime against whites then vice versa, and 136 times more likely to commit a robbery.  Forty-five percent of black crime is against whites, 43 against other blacks, and 10 percent against Hispanic.”

Black youth are highest at risk group to suffer violent crime.

Most Whites suffer from Whites, and most Blacks suffer from Blacks.

HOWEVER, ACCORDING TO A REPORT IN THE N.Y. TIMES:

To put it another way, based on census figures for white and black men of all ages, a black man was roughly six times as likely to be a homicide victim as a white man in 2008.

Incite hatred, instill resentment, encourage revenge, play the race card over and over, and guess what (?)—- youth appropriate the message, internalize destructive emotions, and act out, often violently.  Most recent example:

Students laugh.  Bus driver does not intervene.

And is the following incident evidence of growing racial tension and division?

Just another unusual incident or a symptom of something greater?

Note the following: is this horrendous torture/murder evidence of the deteriorating state of race relations in America?  (Warning, the brutality described here exceeds most anything you have ever heard of, but you didn’t see any coverage on television, did you?)

Coverage of convictions this summer

Many say we have people like Al Sharpton and Louis Farrakhan to thank for increasing racial tension, division and violence in this country.  We can also thank the federal government for creating a vast dependency class of people trapped in the inner city with no hope of change, people dependent on government housing, food and medical care, locked in turf battles and race wars fought out between rival gangs in the drug trade.  Drained of ambition and hope, and without a sense of pride or personal responsibility, youth self-destruct, and blame it on the dominant culture, encouraged by the ax grinders.

What have the agents of suspicion and hate told youth for decades?  Essentially the message has been: the dominant white culture is your enemy, white people are devils, white people enslave you and exploit you, and whatever you do to white people is ok.  Black youth escalate: White youth are escalating too.

Here is one of Mr. Obama’s central political supporters repeating the sermon:

Here is Mr. Obama’s pastor for 20 years inciting racial hatred and division, in the name of God:

“Jesus was a poor Black man . . . controlled by rich white people.” 

(Not reduced to their level of bigotry?   J. Wright has choice words about Jews as well.)

Here is Obama ally and supporter Louis Farrakhan, another anti-Semite, with his own brand of social responsibility:

“God says the white race is a race of devils.”

Here you have a Black ‘professor’ saying the only solution to the problem is “we have to exterminate white people.”

And everyone is familiar with the childish outburst this summer of Harvard Professor Gates accusing a Cambridge police officer of racial profiling, prompting the President to castigate the police officer, without even knowing the facts.

Are the recent incidents involving Kayne West and Serena Williams also symptomatic?  Maybe.  Maybe not.  But it is obvious we have masses of people, all colors, on hair-trigger alert, ready to go off at the slightest perceived provocation, real or imagined.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. worked non-violently for years to help all of us overcome bias, discrimination, and injustice, and for many years, we made progress, only to see much of that progress in recent years destroyed by people hell-bent on keeping us stirred up, suspicious and fearful.

And let grandma demonstrate in D.C. against irresponsible government spending, and according to CNN, she is a racist.

Mr. Obama told us part of his change agenda was to move Dr. King’s agenda forward.  It looks like the opposite is happening, and the Obamas bear much of the responsibility, not only for their numerous associations and statements which aggravate the problem, but for Mr. Obama’s  appointments, people like Van Jones, Eric Holder, Mark Lloyd and others, individuals with an axe to grind, and little more.

Are the majority of Black people like-minded?  If the polls are accurate, it is likely.  Are significant numbers of Black people angry enough to escalate violence?  Likely.  Are most White people racists? Unlikely.   Are there still too many racists in the White community.  No doubt. Are growing numbers of Whites alarmed and defensive?  You bet.  Will there be a backlash?  Probably.  It is a recipe for race war.

According to this older report, we have had a growing and under-reported race war escalating in America for years:

Over time, the cumulative effect has been staggering. Justice Department and FBI statistics indicate that between 1964 and 1994 more than 25 million violent inter-racial crimes were committed, overwhelmingly involving black offenders and white victims, and more than 45,000 people were killed in inter-racial murders. By comparisons 58,000 Americans died in Vietnam, and 34,000 were killed in the Korean war.

Too many youth have been infected with hate, thanks, in part, to decades of vicious music promoting violence, and the real tragedy is Black on Black violence appears to be increasing as well.  Indeed, if Los Angeles is any indication of the future, we will see increasing interracial violence between Hispanics and Blacks also.

Consequently, we face a dangerous situation, and it appears increasingly dangerous, putting all people at risk, regardless of race.  White, Black and Hispanic adults must stand together, refocusing our attention on demonstrating respect and understanding, and redoubling our commitment to raise young people with character and integrity, for if these violent trends continue, they can easily devolve into anarchy.

We also need leaders in all walks of life who exemplify the highest ideals promoted by Dr. King.  Unfortunately, that kind of leadership is rarely seen in America today.  Observing what is going on with organizations such as The ColorofChange, ACORN, STORM, Public Allies, the Apollo Alliance and the renewed Black Panthers, can anyone fault the heightened sense of alarm felt across racial lines?
