Iran tested nuclear weapons?

Report from a year ago—N. Koreans help Iran prepare for an underground test

“This has persuaded the Iranian regime to press ahead with its own nuclear programme with the aim of testing a low-grade device, which would be difficult for international inspectors to detect.”

“Intelligence estimates vary about how long it could take Teheran to produce a nuclear warhead. But defence officials monitoring the growing co-operation between North Korea and Iran believe the Iranians could be in a position to test fire a low-grade device — less than half a kiloton — within 12 months.”

And this was reported one year ago.

So the question remains:

Is this what Biden warned about?   A credible source answers:

The day that Biden made the statement both campaigns were briefed by intelligence agencies that Iran would be nuclear delivery capable by February.”

Iran Masked Nuke Test as Quake
by Hillel Fendel Iran Masked Nuke Test as Quake

A weekend 5.0 Richter earthquake in Iran was actually a nuclear bomb test, says an Iranian nuclear scientist claiming to be working on the project.

The report is an Israel Insider exclusive.

This past Saturday night, southern Iran experienced what was reported as a significant earthquake – a seismic event measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale. Its epicenter was just north of the strategic Straits of Hormuz, which separates Iran from Abu Dhabi and Oman and which is the gateway to the Persian Gulf.

The report quotes an Iranian nuclear scientist who claims to be working in uranium enrichment for the project, and who said that the “quake” was actually an underground nuclear bomb test.

Israel Insider adds that the test/quake was actually the second in a series. Nine days ago, a 4.8 Richter scale event occurred, with its epicenter only five kilometers away from the weekend tremor.

The Israel Insider source reports that two nuclear rockets are currently ready – and are intended for use against Israel in the coming months.

If the report is correct, it would belie previous speculation that Iran would not begin nuclear testing until it had more nuclear-bomb production capability.

The geographical location of the test has several advantages. It is exposed to significant seismic activity, which could serve to mask nuclear tests; it is believed to be close to Iran’s nuclear development facility; delivery and transport of material and personnel can be effected easily through the Hormuz Strait; and Iranian enemies would hesitate to bomb the area because that would threaten the flow of a substantial percentage of the world’s oil.

Reuters reports Thursday morning that Iran has begun building a line of naval bases along its southern coast and up to the Straits of Hormuz.

“The Sept. 11 commission report stated that our biggest failure was one of ‘imagination.’ No one imagined that terrorists would do what they did on Sept. 11. Today few Americans can conceive of the possibility that terrorists could bring our society to its knees by destroying everything we rely on that runs on electricity. But this time we’ve been warned, and we’d better be prepared to respond.”

  1. Tony Douglas says:

Anyone who publish this kind of rubbish must be animated by a deep hatred, short vision and an infinite stupidity. If Israel possess all kind non-conventional weapons including hendrends of nukes, why dening to Iran to try to protect its people?

  2. Allan Erickson says:

The only ones threatening Iran are Iranian leaders.

If the U.S. wanted to destroy Iran, it would have happened long ago.

If President Carter had any onions, the situation would have been dealt with in 1979 when Tehran allowed radicals to invade and occupy our embassy (sovereign American soil), taking 52 Americans hostage and holding them for 444 days. Instead, Carter showed weakness, the Shah was deposed, Khomeini returned from Paris, and Islamic revolution was sparked worldwide, so you see, American weakness encourages terrorism, precisely the reason Obama is perceived as dangerous.

Now, Iran is being assisted by North Korea and Russia, and has for many years pursued nuclear weapons, saying all along, their posture is not defense, but offense. Why do you refuse to believe them?

This story concerning recent nuclear testing in Iran is being carried by many other organizations because it is legitimate news.

Iran has made it clear for many years their goal is the destruction of Israel, and they would like to see the United States destroyed as well. Nuclear weapons in the hands of responsible, civilized nations is one thing. Nuclear weapons possessed by murderers is cause for grave concern.

If you were living in Israel reading about Iran’s intentions, the testing of nuclear weapons, and the intellligence reports they intend an attack soon, you might be of a different mindset. Imagine waking up tomorrow to learn Iran has attacked the U.S. Would you still defend Iran and attack your own country?

Imagine what would happen if Iran dropped a nuke on tiny Israel? Both Israel and the U.S. would be forced to respond. Do think at that point we would be looking at intercontinental exchanges inolving various countries? These things do tend to get out of control rather rapidly. The entire western world has been working for years to prevent such an outcome, but you think its just great for Iran to have nuclear weapons?! Have you not heard that proliferation increases the odds of nuclear war?

Are you aware that a nuclear device detonated 20,000 feet above Kansas would send us back to 1830 in a heartbeat by destroying our computer networks and the entire electrical grid? Imagine what would happen in a few days without electricity, transportation, refrigeration, fuel distribution.

    Hospitals filled with dead people.

Food shortages leading to starvation and food riots.

    Military crippled.

If it happens in winter, seniors and children dying from exposure. If it happens in summer, seniors and children dying from exposure.

Iran could deliver such a weapon from a small vessel a few miles off our shores.

I would say anyone who ignores legitimate news, dismisses real threats, gives a pass to genocidal lunatics, assaults the messenger, and goes so far as to claim Iran has a right to develop nuclear weapons is delusional far beyond the pervasive hatred and infinite stupidity displayed by authorities in Iran.

  3. A bomb blast and an earthquake produce very different seismic profiles. If it were a nuke test, we’d all know.

  4. Jack Bauer says:

Tony — the only hatred on display here seems to emanate from your twisted world-view. An illogical rant, topped off with a manic non sequitur

For starters you seem to hate free expression and free speech.

Oooooo, if Great Britain possesses all sorts of conventional weapons and dominates the world’s oceans, why deny them to Herr Hitler to protect his Volk.

  5. Allan Erickson says:

How are the seismic profiles different? Aren’t there various kinds of actual earthquake profiles as well? Is a bomb profile unique? Can we tell from our sensors? How close are our sensors to Iran? Do you think the government would conceal the news? Do you think Israel is floating this story to try and influence the American election?

  6. Allan Erickson says:

    From another source:

“A nuke test looks nothing like a quake on a seismograph. On the other hand, if you set off a series of bombs and the test site is in an active area, you might look more than a quake. But I doubt you’d fool real geologists. On the otherhand, the West’s intelligence agencies could easily hide the fact that they know about this. Time will tell.”

  7. Allan Erickson says:

Thanks Jack. It is astounding how some people draw moral equivalence between Iran and Israel, or worse, view Iran as superior. Onward!

  8. Jack Bauer says:

    Allan – correct.

Talk about history repeating. Nazi Germany was in the game of developing nukes to put them on the V2.

Didn’t we (the allies) make a solemn oath to the Jewish people that “never again” would we allow a genocidal dictator to commit mass-murder against them?

And whether this reeprt is, or is not true, anyone paying attention knows that one fine morning we will wake up tp the news of an actual Iranian nuclear test.

Unless someone stops them. And that someone won’t be a “President” Obama.

Or a President Bush, by all accounts,

  9. Some are saying the report is false because the Iranians would crow about it. I doubt that. If they intend a preemptive strike against Israel, by crowing, they invite preemption in their direction. I think one thing is certain: the post-election period is going to be a nightmare no matter who is elected, but it will be especially grim with an untested, inexperienced dreamer at the helm.

  10. Tony Douglas says:

Reading all those comments, you guys are living in the year 2999 so sorry guys I am still living in 2008 in a year where the world can not sustain another conflict in the middle east which you guys are working very hard for it to happen. My sincere regards to all of you.

  11. Allan Erickson says:

Does anybody know what the hell Tony is talking about? Look, Tony, we are simply trying to understand what is happening, and see about the most practical way to provide the most good for the greatest number. We are not lunatics or warmongers simply because we hold a different point of view. How about a little tolerance? How about embracing a little diversity, eh?

  12. Jack Bauer says:

Tony == so you reckon it will take the Iranians 991 years to develop an atomic weapon? Interesting opinion. Sounds like you think the 12th Imam is going to appear in the former Persia before an A-Bomb.

And that we shouldn’t speculate on Iran and nukes. presumably so as not to encourage them to move a little faster.

The United States, starting from theoretical scratch, produced a workable A-Bomb in three years starting in 1942.

  13. Allan Erickson says:

Jack—At least Tony gives us credit for being way ahead of our time!
