It may be President Elect Obama will govern broadly and effectively. That remains to be seen.

What we see today is the Left insisting those who opposed Obama are narrow-minded, right-wing Christian bigots, racists, homophobes, sexists, and imperialists.  (Quite the laundry list eh? If you doubt it simply go to or watch MSNBC!)  Of course their irrational and continuous hatred of George W. Bush fuels resentment just as it launched Obama’s presidential ambitions, and it cannot be denied he exploited those resentments, however misguided, doing so brilliantly.

Honest people who raise legitimate concerns about an Obama presidency based on valid political philosophy and issue-orientation should not be vilified simply for having an opinion, but this seems the popular past time of Leftists, ironically contradicting their exclusive claims to kindness and diversity.

How intolerant is the Left when it comes to diverse opinions!  How unkind they are to anyone who holds a divergent point of view.  What is it called when one group refuses the right of conscience to another? The savaging of Sarah Palin condemns them.

Those of us who are Christians are by definition narrow-minded according to the Left, but what can be more narrow-minded than the bigoted hatred expressed by the Left against the most diverse community on earth?  Christians embrace an enormous range of people from all nations, all walks of life, all creeds and colors, all political orientations and all corners of the world, agreeing: Christ is God, God is Love, serving God promotes Goodness.

Why is Barack Obama’s Christianity palatable but not Pat Robertson’s?  The points of departure involve issues like gay marriage and abortion.  Now who is narrow-minded?  And the Left behind Obama is a force for unity?

Mr. Obama is obviously intelligent, charismatic, capable, learned, and articulate.

However, there are two things he will never accomplish:  he will never change the nature of man or the will of God.

Once the euphoria of the moment passes, people will realize the world is dangerous, not because of Christians, not because of America, or George W. Bush, but because of despotism, lunatic terrorists and Leftist control freaks hell bent on imposing their amoral secularism on everyone.

Perhaps at that time people will once again consider the claims of Christ and embrace the Truth, rejecting the Universalism being peddled by Mr. Obama and the Democrats, concluding in the end there are no political solutions, ultimately.

Feeling good for the moment is one thing.  Being right for eternity is The Thing.

Why is the world seemingly orgasmic over the election of Barack Obama?

People have been sold a bill of goods.  Ask most Obama supporters why they support him and generally it distills down to: ‘He makes me feel good.’

It will be very sad when they wake up in a few weeks or months to realize GWB is not the enemy, America is not the enemy, but rather, the Devil working through human beings is the enemy, and Mr. Obama can no more deliver them from the Devil or the ravages of human nature than can GWB or anyone else.

The world is cheering because they think the election of Mr. Obama means deliverance from fear and an ushering in of a new age of peace and prosperity.  It will not happen.   Remember the Word talks about what it will look like in the last days, about judgment, disobedient people, false prophets and vain imaginations, most poignantly in Jeremiah chapter 6:

9 This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Let them glean the remnant of Israel as thoroughly as a vine; pass your hand over the branches again, like one gathering grapes.” 10 To whom can I speak and give warning? Who will listen to me? Their ears are closed so they cannot hear. The word of the Lord is offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it. 11 But I am full of the wrath of the Lord, and I cannot hold it in. 12 Their houses will be turned over to others, together with their fields and their wives, when I stretch out my hand against those who live in the land,” declares the Lord. 13 “From the least to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; prophets and priests alike, all practice deceit. 14 They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. ‘Peace, peace,’ they say, when there is no peace. 15 Are they ashamed of their loathsome conduct? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when I punish them,” says the Lord. 16 This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ 17 I appointed watchmen over you and said, ‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But you said, ‘We will not listen.’

2 Timothy 3:1-9

“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God– 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them. 6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth–men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.”

Our country is being overwhelmed by wickedness, and in this light, Isaiah 57 is especially applicable.

America will be judged because of our greed and immorality.   And indeed, the world is being judged for these and many sins.  We compound our offense by placing faith in a mere man and ignoring the warnings from heaven.

Calling Mr. Obama a false prophet may be stretching it, but when he says he is a Christian, but also says Universalism is “required” as a basis for democracy, and insists abortion is a constitutional right, it is legitimate to raise the issue of consistency, and fidelity.

Many people of good will wish Mr. Obama the best, but there are those who have lived long enough to see the facts of life played out over and over, remaining convinced there is no pie in the sky, remaining optimistic and hopeful, not succumbing to cynicism.

Ultimately, as the Word says, let God be God, and every man a liar.  By godly faith we rise.  By human wisdom we fall.  When will we learn? The Truth will stand regardless of elections, popular trends, or the passions of the day, and in time, our “folly will be clear to everyone.”
