Question: What is worse than the savaging of Sarah Palin witnessed almost daily for close to a year?

Answer: The lack of outrage expressed by otherwise decent people.

Among the few on the Left with the courage to defend, even admire, Sarah Palin:

Camille Paglia (*) , Lynn Forester de Rothschild and Shelly Mandell.

Last March, the following was reported:

A group of Alaska liberals, with the apparent cooperation of members of the Alaska Democratic Party have been filing ethics charge after ethics charge against Sarah Palin. These people want to bankrupt the Palins and leave them destitute.

All but two outstanding ethics charges were dropped or found false.  Frivilous of course.  They were obviously brought simply to destroy the Palin family.  The ethics charges and legal battles had cost the Palin family $500,000 in legal fees months ago.  The total is no doubt higher today.  Obama and his allies are Chicago gangland thugs, nothing more.  That should now be entirely apparent to everyone, including HILLARY and her supporters who originally brought similar charges during the primaries last year. (**)

You see, in America today, you cannot have a point of view contradicting the entrenched ‘wisdom’ of the Left.

Hell hath no fury like a Leftist scorned.

If you exercise your God-given right to free thought and free speech, you are singled out, not just for ridicule, but for outright persecution, and destruction.

(*)  Can Palin ever come back?   by Camille Paglia, July 8, 2009

Unfortunately, it’s pretty obvious that Palin still lacks that cadre of trusted pros who are the invisible elves behind every successful national politician — the assistants who gather and vet material and who filter proposals and plan logistics. In a way, this is part of her virtues — her complete freedom from routine micromanagement and business as usual. She does her own thing with seat-of-the-pants gusto. It’s why she remains hugely popular with the Republican grass-roots base — as I know from listening to talk radio. Callers coming fresh from her rallies are always heady with infectious enthusiasm.

Of course you’d never know that from reading hit jobs like Todd Purdum’s sepulchral piece on Palin in the current Vanity Fair. Scurrying around Alaska with his notepad, Purdum still managed to find comically little to indict her with. Anyone with a gripe is given the floor; fans are shut out. This exercise in faux objectivity is exposed at key points such as Purdum’s failure to identify the actual instigator of Palin’s extravagant clothing bills (a crazed, credit-card-abusing stylist appointed by the McCain campaign) and his prissy characterization of Palin’s performance at the vice-presidential debate as merely “adequate.” Hey, wake up — Palin cleaned Biden’s clock! By the end, Biden was sighing and itching to split.

It is mind-boggling to see that women are some of the most savage in their attacks on the Governor. How is that? Is it that they truly feel threatened the cause of liberal feminism is undermined by a charismatic conservative woman leader? I guess one way to test that proposition is to research whether any conservative women are bashing the Governor, and if so, for what reason.

I have seen and heard reasoned criticism from conservative women who suggest Palin needs to dig in and study up on foreign policy, that she did not do well in the CBS interview especially with regard to SCOTUS decisions, and she needs to more effectively articulate moral positions that can be so divisive. These are legitimate areas for discussion where conservative men and women have lent useful comment and evaluation. What we see from liberals is vicious assault waged only to destroy the woman because she is such a threat. Our politics are no longer engaged by patriots with different points of view. Liberals now wage war to transform the entire nature and structure of the country. God help you if you stand in their way. I witnessed this starting 35 years ago. The tyranny of the Left is systemic, vicious and merciless, and the savaging of Sarah Palin is the most recent evidence, not to mention the 8 years Bush endured. If you are conservative they tar and feather. If you are a Christian conservative, they lynch. It is a blood sport anymore, and they are pushing it so far, I expect to see real trouble ahead.
