A guy asked me some time ago why I believe in the idea of the fallenness of humankind: sin.
I replied by asking two questions.
Why do we lock our doors?
Would you put your thought life on CNN? (Matt. 5:21-30)
Our main problem is this: we were created to be one thing, but we chose to be altogether otherwise. We were created to enjoy ultimate freedom in loving relationship with our Creator. Instead, we chose to be egomaniacs: prideful, selfish, violent, robbers and thieves. (Gen. 6:5, Gen. 3)
“All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
The central theme of the Bible is the story of a loving Father fighting through evil to save his rebellious children, even to the point of allowing his own Son to die a cruel death on an old rugged Cross.
