The logical question: why wasn’t this done two months ago?
D.C. SCOTUS Examiner Hans Bader has the answer:
Crucial offers to help clean up BP’s oil spill came “from Belgian, Dutch, and Norwegian firms that . . . possess some of the world’s most advanced oil skimming ships.” But the Obama administration didn’t accept their help, because doing so would require it to do something past presidents have routinely done: waive rules imposed by the Jones Act, a law backed by unions.
Few would fault anyone for an accident. The spill—for all of BP’s shortcuts—was an accident. Casting overt blame is unreasonable.
However, failure to do everything possible to stop the leak and clean up the mess is entirely the fault of this Administration. Even the crowned princes of the Left at MSNBC admit, after the President’s remarks last night, this Administration is thoroughly incompetent.
